Carolyn Morgan, PhD, is a Professor of Psychology and a faculty member in the School Psychology Program at UW-Whitewater. Dr. Morgan was trained as a social-personality psychologist with expertise in intrinsic motivation, academic motivation, and the self-regulation of interest and motivation. She also has research interests in resistance and reactance in school contexts, reading motivation, and gender differences in motivation in school contexts. Prior to her graduate work in social-personality psychology at the University of Utah, Dr. Morgan completed two years of a Master’s program in counseling psychology. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and taught in public schools in Arkansas for two years prior to that. Dr. Morgan has taught at UW-Whitewater for 28 years and was department chair for eight of those years. She teaches undergraduate courses in research methods, personality psychology, and social-psychological processes related to motivation. In the School Psychology graduate program, she teaches PSYCH 787-Social Context and Diversity in School Settings.
