Nathan Jaeger

Meet Nathan Jaeger, whose road to becoming Director of Business Services in the Whitewater Unified School District was unusual. He graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from UW-La Crosse in 2007. He then successfully taught second, third, and fourth grade children from 2007-2010. Deciding on a career change, Nathan took two degrees from the Graduate School at UW-Whitewater, earning an MBA with an emphasis in Finance and Management in 2010 and an MSE in School Business Management in 2011.

As Director, he manages the district’s overall accounting and financial reporting. This includes creating and managing the budget, monitoring internal controls, creating and presenting reports on the District’s financial condition to both internal and external parties, monitoring cash flow and determining long and short term borrowing needs, safeguarding the District’s assets to minimize the risk of financial loss, and overseeing all auxiliary services.

Nathan cites his educational and professional experiences at UW-Whitewater as being crucial to his success. In his time as a business manager he has had a broad range of experiences and accomplishments including helping to pass multiple operating referenda, completing a significant energy efficiency construction project impacting all six district buildings, and being named the 2014 New School Business Official of the Year.

Nathan is also an active member of the Whitewater community. He enjoys serving on the Board for the Whitewater Aquatic Center, the Rotary Club of Whitewater, and as the Vice-Chairperson for the City of Whitewater Parks and Recreation Board. He is an advocate for children and public education, and is proud to be on the leadership team of the phenomenal 4K-12 school system in Whitewater.

He has indeed given back to the community and the University that fostered his opportunities.
