UW-Whitewater named a top workplace

June 09, 2014

For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the only public university and only state agency named a Top Workplace in southeast Wisconsin.

The regional list, compiled by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, ranks public and private organizations based on employee surveys. About 100,000 people were asked questions about company direction, pay and benefits, management, work/life balance and career opportunities.

"Our campus community understands and embraces a special mission to serve students and the region. In every corner of campus, we are teaching, innovating, creating and inspiring."

Companies where employees feel a connection to workplace goals and have confidence in their direction were most likely to make the list, according to organizers. Innovation and collaboration were also common attributes among the top workplaces.

"This past year was filled with tremendous achievements, including groundbreaking academic research and six athletic championships," Telfer said. "I look forward to what the next academic year at UW-Whitewater will bring."
