Only students paying seg fees should be completing the membership claim form above. Students who do not pay seg fees must purchase a "community membership" if they wish to have a fitness membership. Not sure if you are paying seg fees? Check out your student bill.

In order to access the form, you must login in with your UW-Whitewater NetID and password. If you are signed in to any other accounts in your browser (i.e. a Google account), you will likely need to log out and log back in with the proper credentials. Another option would be to try a different browser type (i.e. Firefox instead of Chrome, etc.). Only students can claim a membership. Parents, guardians or other individuals may not claimed a membership for any student. Once a student claims their membership, they are unable to claim another membership (i.e. students cannot claim a membership for other students).

Overview of Memberships
Students, faculty and staff have access to the gymnasiums, fieldhouse, racquetball courts and pool. A membership is required for the Williams Center Weight Room and University Fitness (located in the basement of Wells Hall).

Current UW-Whitewater students paying seg fees do not need to purchase a membership. Memberships do, however, need to be claimed by completing the online form found on this or the FREE UW-W Rec Sports app. Please continue reviewing this site for more details.

Non seg fee paying students, faculty/staff, community, alumni and additional family memberships must be purchased in-person in Williams Center Room 100. Non seg fee paying students are now considered "community members."

Payment options for in-person membership purchases include cash, check, purple points or student billing. Faculty/staff members may use payroll deduction. Membership Information Form

Sorry, no credit cards, although a no-fee ATM is located on the second floor of the Williams Center near the Sideline Cafe.

For Students Paying Seg Fees

NOTE: Hawk Card is required for access. See details below; circumstances apply at the discretion of Rec Sports professional staff.
Guest passes allow access to all open facilities.
Guest passes are good for the day, week and/or month of purchase, and are not subject to semester restrictions.

Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to purchase a membership during the academic year. Children as young as 15 may purchase memberships during the summer session if accompanied by a parent or guardian at the time of purchase.

Student memberships must be claimed, as membership access is not automatically granted and a user agreement must be filed with the Office of Recreation Sports & Facilities. In order to claim your membership, click any of the YELLOW "Students: Fill out form here to claim your membership" banners on this site or access the form within the UW-W Rec Sports app.

In the membership claim form, students are asked to:
- provide their UW-W account number: know your 7-digit student ID number
- provide emergency contact information
- acknowledge membership policies, terms & conditions
- acknowledge the membership contract and waiver

Once a membership is claimed, a confirmation email will automatically be sent to the claiming student via an email from Google Forms titled "Warhawk Fitness Access Form". Please allow at least 48-72 hours for memberships to be properly processed and access privileges being added to your Hawk Card.

TERMS

All members, regardless of how memberships are obtained, must abide by all participation terms as outlined by Warhawk Fitness staff. Terms are strictly enforced for the safety, wellness and enjoyment of all members. Terms are outlined via the "Membership Claim Form" and are agreed to by students as part of the claiming process. If someone chooses to ignore terms and the efforts of staff to enforce them, they are subject to dismissal from the facility or having their membership privileges revoked.

Suggestions and feedback to current terms are welcomed at any time and our staff will happily meet with you to discuss your ideas.

Current Terms Accessible Here

Questions, concerns, etc. may be sent to Rec Sports staff by submitting an online inquiry via the GREEN "Contact Us" button in the lower right corner of this site.

Segregated University Fees (Seg Fees/SUF) are charges, in addition to instructional fees, assessed to all students for student services, activities, programs and facilities that support the mission of University of Wisconsin System institutions.

Student fitness memberships are now included in seg fees as a result of a Whitewater Student Government (WSG) initiative. This initiative was designed to increase student involvement opportunities while making said opportunities readily accessible to the campus community. The initiative was passed by WSG during the Spring 2022 semester and approved by the UW System Board of Regents during Summer 2022.

Questions or concerns related to the application of seg fees may be addressed to student billing and WSG.

A breakdown of a student's bill should be available on WINS. Rec Sports encourages all students and their families understand their bill, affiliated fees/charges and how they work. Questions on your status of paying seg fees can be addressed to the Registrar's Office. Final decisions on someone's eligibility for paying seg fees do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Office of Recreation Sports & Facilities.

Access to the following areas are included with the membership seg fee:

- Williams Center Weight Room
- University Fitness (located in the basement of Wells Hall)
- Group Fitness & Cycling Classes

Students also already have access to the Kachel Fieldhouse, Williams Center Equipment Room & Rentals and the Williams Center Pool.

Any fees affiliated with Intramural & Club Sports participation are NOT included in this seg fee and may involve additional costs, which vary by activity. Questions about participating in either of these programs may be addressed to imsports@uww.edu or clubsports@uww.edu.

Membership access is applied to Hawk Cards only and members must swipe their Hawk Cards in order for staff to verify active membership status. Hawk Cards also prove individual identity, and fraudulent use of a Hawk Card is considered a violation of the UW-Whitewater Code of Conduct. There are currently no other ways for staff to verify membership. See the "Forgot ID" tab for more information if you do not have your Hawk Card and wish to use your membership.

Memberships may be used any time during hours of operations, which can be accessed here.

Depending on the time in which a member wishes to use their membership, a session reservation may be required. This is due to the fact some facilities are shared by multiple user groups, including academics and Intercollegiate Athletics.

Session Details (Williams Center Weight Room):

- 7:30 to 9:00 am

There are no sessions, capacity limits or reservation requirements for University Fitness.

Memberships are 12 months in-length and begin September 1 every year. Memberships for the current academic year expire August 31. Since memberships are 12 months in-length, a new membership must be claimed every year a student is eligible for access to be active. If a student withdraws or is not enrolled at UW-Whitewater for any reason, any existing membership privileges will be removed, as the student will no longer be paying the seg fee.

The Williams Center Weight Room is a shared facility with Intercollegiate Athletics and Academics (mainly the Department of Kinesiology).

Athletes on rosters for Intercollegiate Athletics teams may be frequent visitors to the Weight Room due to having scheduled sessions with Strength & Conditioning coaches. Most strength & conditioning sessions are held weekdays from 6:00 am to 9:00 am and 2:15 to 5:15 pm. This is why sessions are required during those times as well, to ensure all members have the same, equitable opportunities to utilize their memberships!

While it is often perceived athletes receive special access/privileges, the truth of the matter is they do not and must abide by all terms, conditions, policies and procedures as all other members. Athletes must bring their Hawk Card to swipe in in order to gain access to their membership when they are not with strength & conditioning staff.

Athletes are to use equipment reserved specifically for their team-related workouts by strength & conditioning staff and must respect other members and their space. If you believe an athlete is abusing their membership access, please report your suspicions to a Fitness Supervisor at the Weight Room's front desk. You could also speak with a member of the Rec Sports professional staff in Room 100.

No. Rec Sports does not have the authorization to process these types of requests. If you have a question about seg fees and how they are applied to your bill, we advise you speak with Student Government, the Registrar's Office, or Financial Services.

We do understand not everyone wishes to participate in our programs & services, however we believe Rec Sports offers something for everyone and encourage you give us a try - even student employment and volunteer opportunities! If you have suggestions or feedback on how Rec Sports could offer something that fits what you're looking for, please let us know!

If a student forgets their Hawk Card, they are permitted to use a "Forgotten ID" pass. Forgotten ID passes may be claimed only by visiting Room 100 of the Williams Center and speaking with staff. Members will receive a carbon copy of the daily guest pass form indicating they have used a forgotten ID option. Members then take the carbon copy of this pass to the area they wish to access and present this to staff in lieu of swiping their Hawk Card. Forgotten ID passes apply on for the day in which the forgotten ID pass is claimed.

In the event a member forgets their ID more than twice, they are subject to paying the rate for a day, week, month or applicable semester/annual pass under the same terms as community members. It is vital members bring their Hawk Cards at all times so additional charges may be avoided.

Did you lose your Hawk Card? New Hawk Cards can be purchased from the Hawk Card office. Rec Sports does not sell replacement cards.
