How to apply to UW-Whitewater

Ready to apply to UW-Whitewater? As you begin the application process, your dedicated admissions counselor is here to help you with any questions along the way.

First step

Complete the Universities of Wisconsin Application

(This application is recommended for those that are intending to apply to more than one Universities of Wisconsin school)

or 

Complete an application on Common App

(This application is intended for those intending to apply to more than one school available on through Common App)

You will also need to submit:

  • A copy of your high school transcript
  • Your ACT/SAT scores (optional)
    • ACT Code: 4684
    • SAT Code: 1921

After you submit your application, you’ll receive an email with information about setting up an account for our student information system, WINS. You can track your college application progress, such as what documents still might be needed.

Academic preparation is an important part of an admission decision.

The following list identifies the minimum course requirements necessary for admission consideration. The most competitive candidates for admission to UW-Whitewater typically surpass these unit requirement totals.

  • English: 4 units
  • Math: 3 units
  • Algebra, Geometry, and other mathematics courses with Algebra and Geometry prerequisites (preferably fitting the college preparatory math sequence of Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II)
  • Natural Science: 3 units
  • Social Science: 3 units
  • Academic Electives: 4 units
    • Typical electives include a combination of extra courses in the above subjects, arts, music, computer science, foreign language or business

We encourage you to apply to UW-Whitewater as early as possible. Although we accept students on a rolling basis, it’s possible we’ll close applications once we’ve reached our capacity for admitted freshmen.

Application deadlines:

  • Fall 2024 Semester: Submit application materials prior to May 1, 2024.
    • New freshmen who have been admitted to UW-Whitewater by Jan. 1 of their senior year for the upcoming fall term are automatically considered for academic scholarships.
    • Application submission is recommended prior to May 1, 2024 to best prepare students for orientation dates beginning in June. 
    • Applications received after May 1, 2024 will be reviewed on a rolling basis. 
  • Spring 2025 Semester: Submit application materials prior to December 13, 2024.
