Warhawk Tennis Alumni Event

Location: Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex, UW-Whitewater

We are gathering Warhawk tennis alumni and friends on Homecoming Saturday to celebrate the newly renovated Warhawk outdoor tennis facility. We will be honoring the generous donors who made the recent outdoor court renovation project possible.

Schedule of activities:

• • 10:00 a.m.: Snacks at Divelbiss Stadium Court
  • 10:15 a.m.: Ceremony honoring our donors
  • 10:30 a.m.: Let's play some tennis! Bring your racket or borrow a wood racket from us. Or you can watch and cheer them on.
  • 11:00 a.m.: Tailgate lunch including burgers and brats at Buckley Stadium Court
  • 1:00 p.m.: Head to the Homecoming football game vs UW-Eau Claire. Or you can continue tailgating at the courts, hanging out and playing more tennis.

The 1982 men’s tennis team will be honored during the Homecoming football game.  Members of the team include Jim Woyahn, John Buckley, Tom Komassa, Jim Holcomb, Paul Lund, Bob Bode, Brett Smith, Glen Slonac, Steve Ebsen and Randy Englund. They were coached by head coach Ron Wangerin and assistant coach Stanley Brink.

This team earned the highest NCAA team ranking in school history ending the season ranked 9^th nationally.  Jim Woyahn finished #39 in the nation in singles and partnered with John Buckley they were ranked #15 in the nation in doubles.  The team also were WSUC Conference Champions. Let's plan to be there to cheer them on!
