Undergraduate Audit and Review Committee

The Faculty Senate has charged the Undergraduate Audit and Review Committee with overseeing Audit and Review of undergraduate academic departments and programs and of university academic support programs and activities, in fulfillment of University of Wisconsin System requirements.

Functions

  1. The committee develops the format and content requirements for self-studies.
Departments and programs submit self-studies for review to Audit and Review Committee.

  2. The committee establishes a rubric to use in reviewing and reporting on self-studies.

  3. The committee appoints department and program Audit and Review teams.
The following requirements should guide formation of a team:

    • A team should include at least two elected Audit and Review Committee faculty members.
    • Audit and Review Committee faculty members should constitute the majority of a team.
    • A team may include people from inside or outside the university with program area expertise.
  4. The committee reports on the effectiveness of Audit and Review processes and results.
Each report should cover four areas:

    • quality of existing activities, staff, facilities and equipment, and budget
    • demand and need for the program reviewed
    • anticipated future developments that may affect either of these subjects
    • recommendations for changes in the program as warranted by the review

The committee makes all of its reports and recommendations available to the Faculty Senate, the University Curriculum Committee, the Academic Development Committee, the Faculty Budget Committee, and the Academic Affairs Staff.

  1. The committee notifies departments and programs of all the above in a timely manner.
