ATTENTION:

 

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Education and Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant. Professor in the area of speech-language pathology beginning August 2024. This is a full-time nine-month position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research in the area of expertise, and providing service to the university and community. Current areas of instructional need include pediatric speech and language.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D in speech-language pathology or a related discipline is required. ABD candidates will be given equal consideration if they have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2024; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2025 in advance of their first scheduled review.
  • Expertise in pediatric speech and/or language.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Hold a current CCC-SLP
  • Eligible for Wisconsin licensure in speech-language pathology
  • Teaching experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 Responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate instruction and may include clinical supervision for candidates that hold ASHA CCC. The individual in this position may be required to teach online and/or in a hybrid format, or courses in the evenings. Given the emphasis on teaching, collaboration, and clinical training at UW-Whitewater, candidates will have an understanding of evidence-based practice and a team approach to collaboration. This candidate will be expected to pursue an active research agenda that results in publications and contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the area of expertise. The candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion as a member of the university community.

 

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

 

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (http://www.uww.edu/coeps/departments/comdis) is one of eight departments in the College of Education and Professional Studies. The undergraduate program is committed to providing students with foundation knowledge in communication sciences and disorders required for graduate study in speech-language pathology and audiology. The graduate program provides a comprehensive academic and clinical education for graduate students including on-campus and off-site clinical experiences across the lifespan. The modest size of the classes (undergraduate approximately 35 and graduate approximately 16) provides an excellent ratio for teaching and mentoring. The department engages students in research in conjunction with the Undergraduate Research Program.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

 

 Well-qualified candidates can expect a salary range of $62,000 to $65,000.
