Youth Protection & Event Specialist - Continuing Education - 21221

ATTENTION:

The Department of Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Youth Protection & Event Specialist (Compliance Specialist II, CP019).

JOB DETAILS:

Join the Camps and Conferences team in successfully hosting over 10,000 youth annually through camps, conferences, events and lessons. Work collaboratively with campus partners to communicate and implement expectations within UW System Administrative Policy 625 and UWW Policy 771.  

Daily responsibilities may include compiling and classifying reports in support of a specific compliance program, assessing leadership in regulatory report creation, coordinating notification issuance, assisting with the development and implementation of institution-wide policies to ensure compliance with institutional policies and/or laws and regulations, and acting as lead for various camps, conferences, and events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Documented experience demonstrating organizational skills focusing on policy creation, implementation, program data collection, time management, and/or project management
  • Proficiency with software applications, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with Excel to track, reconcile, and provide reports
  • Documented experience demonstrating organizational skills focusing on policy creation, implementation, program data collection, time management, and/or project management

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with enforcing compliance policies and enforcing timely correction of non-compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practices in terms of youth protection and safety for youth programming nationwide
  • Demonstrated knowledge of benchmarking, policy platforms, and program resources in youth programming across the US
  • Knowledge and/or membership with current youth protection organization
  • Understanding of UW-System Practices and Policies
  • General understanding of FERPA and the Clery Act

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to create and understand policy as it applies to minors on campus
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • Assists leadership with developing and publishing compliance reports in accordance with established laws and regulations
  • Audits and serves as a subject matter expert and point of contact for potentially affected units and affiliated organizations, ensuring appropriate notices are issued relating to compliance
  • Collaborates with other institutional compliance subject matter experts to review procedures and make change recommendations to leadership
  • Develops and strengthens relationships with camp directors through detailed event management (event preparation, day of management and event closeout)
  • Work in partnership with campus entities, including: dining, housing, athletic trainers, etc. to ensure camp and conferences needs are met

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary of $44,000.
