Assistant Professor of Business Ethics/Social Issues - Tenure-Track - Management - 21231
ATTENTION:
The Department of Management in the College of Business and Economics (CoBE) at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor with an emphasis in Business Ethics/Social Issues in Management, to include management in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, beginning August 2025.
JOB DETAILS:
The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate level course related to Business Ethics/Social Issues in Management in both in-person and online formats. The ability to create and manage positive relationships with a diverse student body is also a priority. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that fulfills AACSB requirements for Scholarly Academics and results in publications and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent by August 1, 2025 - examples of appropriate emphases include Management, Business Ethics, Sustainability, Social Issues in Management, Nonprofit Management, Accountability, or Governance (ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2025, if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2026 in advance of their first scheduled review)
- Previous meaningful experience as the primary instructor for university-level classes as demonstrated by copies of recent syllabi and student evaluations that include comments
- Expertise in topics related to Business Ethics/Social Issues in Management, to include management in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations
- Currently meets CoBE research-related AACSB standards for Scholarly Academics
- Capable of maintaining CoBE research-related AACSB standards for Scholarly Academics
- A desire to excel at both online and in-person teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level
- Ability to learn and adapt as standards for course delivery evolve
- Ability to create and manage positive relationships with all students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Non-academic management or business ethics/social issues in management-related work experience in either a for-profit or nonprofit setting
- Willingness to teach topics related to non-profit/sustainability
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching comprises approximately 50% of duties, including:
- A 3/3 teaching load equally in asynchronous online and synchronous in-person formats at both undergraduate and graduate levels
- Developing and maintaining rigorous content for courses related to Business Ethics/Sustainability/Non-profit Management
- Creating and maintaining video lectures over a 3-year cycle for all online courses
- Maintaining interpersonal contact with students outside of the classroom via a variety of methods, including online discussion boards, internet-based video conferencing, email, and both in-person and online office-hours.
Research and Creative Activities comprise approximately 40% of duties, including:
- Designing and completing original research presented at national conferences and published in double-blind peer-reviewed academic journals like those appearing in the Australian Business Dean's Council list or the Financial Times Top 50
Service will comprise approximately 10% of duties, including:
- Introductory participation in activities supporting the department, college, university, and profession
After successful completion of the tenure process, responsibilities for this position will transition towards service roles such as curriculum coordinator, student club advisor, and committee chair.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $115,000 - $130,000.
