University Standards Committee
FUNCTION
The University Standards Committee (USC) shall:
- Write university promotion standards and procedures that guide constituency committees in writing their tenure and promotion standards and procedures.
- Review constituency level policies, standards and procedures.
- Negotiate differences with constituency committees.
- Submit unresolved differences with constituency committees to the Faculty Senate for resolution.
- Submit its decisions to the Faculty Senate for review.
- Distribute reports of Faculty Senate decisions concerning tenure and promotion policies, standards, and procedures to all affected parties.
- The USC shall consider recommendations for standards and procedures from departments, constituency committees, and the Provost.
- Differences between the USC and the Provost shall be submitted to the Faculty Senate for resolution.
- The USC shall resolve disputes concerning assignment of educational code.
- The USC shall distribute copies of its minutes, decisions, and reports to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, the Faculty Personnel Rules Committee, the Provost, Chancellor, and the University Archives.
- Decisions of the USC shall be based upon majority vote.
MEMBERSHIP
11 voting members
- Two faculty members elected from and by each constituency:
- College of Arts and Communication/Library
- College of Business and Economics
- College of Education and Professional Studies
- College of Integrated Studies
- College of Letters and Sciences
- One at-large member with at least 50% non-teaching assignment, elected by all University faculty
TERMS
Members shall serve four-year terms. Terms shall be staggered at two-year intervals within the membership of each constituency. Mid-term vacancies shall be filled by special constituency election.
