Search Committee Composition
Policy
Regarding search committees for employees who will serve on the Chancellor’s Cabinet:
- Each governance group will be asked to name one (or more) member(s) of the search committee to represent their group. These individuals shall be selected according to each governance group’s own procedures. A group may also choose to waive an appointment.
- Other members of the search committee shall be chosen at the discretion of the search committee chair or designee.
- All requests for a governance group appointment will be submitted to the chairperson of the respective group or designee. The governance group must respond with the name(s) of an appointee, or a notice to waive an appointment, within five business days to ensure an efficient search process. If a name is not submitted within five business days, it will be assumed the group is waiving their appointment and the search committee chair will appoint a person to represent the governance group.
- The Office of Human Resources & Diversity may decline an appointment. The employee who is denied may contact Human Resources for more information. If this occurs, the governance group will be asked to appoint a new representative or waive a new representative.
- If an approved appointee needs to withdraw from the search process, the governance group will be asked to reappoint a new search committee representative in a timely manner.
- Shared governance groups should be formally notified of the names of the committee members before candidate reviews begin.
