Let's play softball under the lights

We want to shed some light on Warhawk softball!

Did you know that the Marty van Steenderen Softball complex is the only varsity sports field at UW-Whitewater that does not have lights? Because of this, our softball team has multiple games called due to darkness each season.

Female student-athletes put in the same amount of work, sweat and time as male athletes. All Warhawk athletes are champions. Let’s treat them ALL like champions.

A campaign is underway to raise the funds needed to install lights in the softball stadium and we need your support. We have already secured $150,000 in donations from our generous supporters to the UW-Whitewater Athletics Department. However, this only gets us halfway to our goal needed to add lights to the Marty van Steenderen Softball complex. We need your help to get us the W!

Your financial support will:

• Increase class time for student athletes — Lights allow for practices and games to start later, allowing athletes to stay in class longer.
• Allow more Warhawk fans to attend games — Later game times will allow more Warhawk fans to attend the games, enhancing the atmosphere for our players, coaches and fans.
• Boost opportunities to host NCAA post-season play — Facilities with lights are preferred when the NCAA is choosing a host location.
• Help Warhawk players adapt — Our players will be able to adapt to playing under lights at other facilities and during post-season play.
• Increase revenue — A more flexible facility will allow UW-Whitewater to rent the facility for tournament play.
• Help student athlete recruiting — Who doesn’t want to play under the lights??
