Professional Licensure Disclosures

UWW has determined the states in which a student and prospective student is located for the purpose of disclosing state-specific Professional Licensure information to students, based on the state in which a student is located (see Student Location Policy). This information is shared directly with programs for the purposes of individual disclosures to students impacted.

Please see the information below if you are a prospective, or current, UWW student interested in pursuing professional licensure after graduation in one of the programs listed below.

If there is not sufficient information for the state in which you reside, or intend to work, please contact the department in which that program resides for assistance. Additionally, professional licensure contact information for each state, can be found on NC-SARA website under Professional Licensure Directory page.

College of Business and Economics

Licensure is required to practice School Business Management, and completion of this program meets licensure requirements in Wisconsin and Illinois. The table below indicates whether UW-Whitewater meets the educational licensure requirements in other US States and territories. All programs will work with students individually to ensure that students meet licensure requirements in their location

If you have questions regarding the transfer of UW-Whitewater's school-based licensure programs to other states, please reach out to the College of Education and Professional Studies Licensure Department at coepslicensure@uww.edu.

College of Education and Professional Studies

Teacher candidates who successfully complete a program approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), meet the licensure requirements in Wisconsin. Educators who complete a preparation program approved by the DPI, and then receive a license from the department, are usually eligible to receive a one-year license from other states.  Most states require that educators who were prepared in another state complete at least one state-specific requirement (e.g., course, test), and the one-year, or other temporary license, gives educators the opportunity to work in a school while they complete the requirement(s).

Completion of teacher preparation programs in the College of Education and Professional Studies meets licensure requirements in Wisconsin and Illinois. The table below indicates whether UW-Whitewater educational licensure programs' curricula meets the educational licensure requirements in other US States and territories. All programs will work with students individually to ensure that students meet licensure requirements in their location.
