Educational Opportunities

In 2019-2020, the Pride Center and LGBTQ Peer Educators facilitated training and peer learning in 45 educational spaces to 1,020 participants! Thank you to our campus partners for doing the important work of LGBTQ advocacy.

LGBTQ Studies Certificate 

The Women's and Gender Studies Department offers a WGS major, minor, and certificate, and a NEW certificate in LGBTQ Studies. Courses include: Introduction to LGBTQ Studies, Queer Cinema, Queer Popular Culture, and special topics courses in Queering American History and Queer & Trans Memoir. 

LGBTQ 101 Workshop

This 2-3 hour workshop is designed as an introduction to LGBTQ student life and national trends, intended to increase participant capacity and comfort actively advocating for LGBTQ people in their lives and at work.  

LGBTQ Peer Educator Panel

The LGBTQ Peer Educator program is designed to bring education around LGBTQ equity to students in classroom spaces. Undergraduate student employees are trained to blend local and national data around LGBTQ justice with their personal experiences being LGBTQ people. 

Gender Expansive Pronoun Workshop 

This 45 minute interactive workshop offers an introduction to gender expansive language and pronouns. Participants will leave with concrete tips for implementing gender inclusive language and pronouns systemically and interpersonally.
