Academic Network

Our Program

Academic Network supports students' academic and career endeavors by connecting them to campus resources, educational programs, and community events. To serve as an outlet for students' academic, personal, and professional development and serve as a liaison between the Student Diversity, Engagement and Success (SDES) and other departments on campus by providing mentorship.

Our Services

  • Academic Advising - Provides secondary academic advising for all students such as course selection, major/minor changes, and awareness of available resources.
  • Study Tables - Students are provided with the opportunity to study together and share ideas and resources. Students are encouraged to utilize the tutorial center for academic help.
  • Career Development - Provides professional development services such as encouraging students to apply for campus leadership positions and internships (Campus Assistant, Resident Assistant, Peer Mentor, Hawk Squad, etc.). Also encourages students to attend educational conferences (American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference, McNair Senior Retreat, SSS Senior Retreat, etc.) and join student organizations so-sponsored by SDES. Students are given information regarding Major/Minor Fairs, Career Fairs, Resume Workshops and Mock Interview opportunities.
  • High Impact Practices - Students are given information regarding undergraduate research opportunities, study abroad opportunities, learning communities, new student seminar classes, etc.
