Sustainability Events
Engagement through planning and executing sustainability-themed events is an important part of building awareness of sustainability topics. The Sustainability Office primarily focuses on community service activities, but partner with a number of student organizations and departments to host other events for others to participate in. These programs also provide opportunities to collaborate with faculty, staff and students. To explore potential partnerships in planning events and activities, email sustainability@uww.edu.
Please visit our Connect2 event calendar to view our current schedule and register for your preferred events and community service session times. We ask attendees to register in advance so we can communicate any cancellations.
The Sustainability Office also participates in a variety of annual University events to deepen engagement with campus stakeholders. You can look for our table at HawkFest, Involvement Fair, and many others throughout the year and talk to one of our interns to learn more about our office and their internship.

Earth Month
Earth Day (April 22) has a long and proud tradition in Wisconsin since it was Gaylord Nelson, former Governor and Senator from Wisconsin, that created the holiday in 1970. At UW-Whitewater, Earth Month is celebrated throughout April and culminates with a tree planting ceremony on Arbor Day (last Friday of April) and participating in Make a Difference Day.
You can find our event schedule with links to our Connect2 event calendar on this page every spring semester.
Campus Sustainability Month
Campus Sustainability Month is celebrated every October by hosting a variety of events that raise awareness of the value of sustainability in higher education. During this month, colleges and universities organize events on campus and elsewhere to engage and inspire incoming students and other campus stakeholders to become sustainability change agents. These events include teach-ins, sustainability pledge-drives, zero energy concerts, waste audits, green sporting events, letter writing campaigns, service projects, and much more!
