The Bizarre and The Grotesque
The deep and lasting effects of personal traumas, gruesome war, cultural upheaval, or societal collapse inspire artists to create disturbing and yet relatable art. Mutilated bodies, haunting faces, piercing eyes, and demonic creatures serve to visualize dark and festering emotions. Fears of the unknown, the inhuman and the inhumane, and even death itself manifest in different media. In this exhibition, the horrors and chaos of the world are seen through the lens of the human psyche. To be bizarre and grotesque is to be human.
