Dr. Jonathan Amon is a music educator and saxophonist based in the Boston area, currently holding faculty positions at The University of Rhode Island and Bridgewater State University. Additionally, he teaches saxophone at The Fenn School and the Instrumental Music School of Carlisle and Concord (IMSCC), both located in Concord, MA.
An avid soloist, Dr. Amon is especially interested in contemporary music and works that blend practices from the spheres of classical, popular, and traditional music. He has premiered works for saxophone by several composers including Joan Tower, Claudio Gabriele, and Pierre Grouvel, and is a long-time member of the Chagall Performance Art Collaborative, an interdisciplinary arts organization based in Salem, MA. Past performances include those at international and regional conferences of the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA), and the World Saxophone Congress. Additionally, he was the lead organizer and host for the NASA Region 8 Conference at Bridgewater State University in 2017. His primary teachers have been Matt Sintchak, Jean-Michel Goury, and Kenneth Radnofsky.
