Chasing Storms: Documenting the Extreme Weather Travel Study Course

During the 2025 offering of UWW’s Extreme Weather Travel course, two undergraduate students undertook research and creative projects to document the course. One student, an environmental science major, focused more on the environment that led to each day's events experienced by the group that traveled. After returning from the trip, she created a StoryMap to illustrate the journey and the storms experienced from a meteorological perspective. The second student, a broadcast journalism major, focused on storytelling about what chasing is like. While on the trip, she shot plenty of footage of the storms we experienced and interviewed both instructors and students about their experiences. After returning from the trip, she edited all the video footage and interviews to produce a documentary about the course. Join us to hear about the course from the instructor and the experiences of the two students who worked on the projects.
