The courses in the international studies major are taught by faculty in geography, political science, history, women's studies, anthropology, philosophy, religious studies, economics, business, communications, and languages and literatures. Majors are exposed to a wide range of viewpoints, of professors from three out of the four colleges of the university. Lists of faculty may be found in the UW-Whitewater Undergraduate Catalog.
The major is housed in the Department of Geography, Geology, and Environmental Science. Its coordinator, Jonathan Burkham, is an Associate Professor of Human Geography with expertise in international development and migration studies. An International Studies Advisory Committee (with representatives from departments in the Colleges of Letters & Sciences, Arts and Communication, and Business and Economics) provides oversight to the program.
