Lucas Seidel

Lucas is a 2017 alum with a B.A. in Media Arts and Game Development and an emphasis in Visual Media Design. He had a childhood interest in 3D animation which led him to UW-Whitewater and his current career.

What made you decide to come to UW-Whitewater?
“The small-town atmosphere of the university and the ability to interact with your teachers directly and frequently.”

How did your UW-Whitewater experience prepare you for your career or transform your life?
“It prepared me for my career by giving me experience within the near entirety of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs.”

Is there an artist you draw inspiration from?
“There is not a particular artist, but I frequently use sites like Pinterest and Dribbble to find inspiration and reference when beginning a new project.”

Where are you at in your career?
“I'm currently working as a full-time video editor with the Milwaukee Brewers.”

What is your proudest accomplishment to date?
“Stepping into the role I have now where I'm able to represent an icon of Wisconsin sports in my everyday job. It is genuinely a dream come true. In 2019 I won the Milwaukee Press Club Excellence in Journalism Silver Award for Best Online Sports Story. The award was for a journalistic motion graphics piece I created as a video editor for 88Nine Radio Milwaukee.”

What advice would you give to your former self?
“Continue grinding and never give up. It will all be worth it in the end.”

What advice would you give to your future self?
“Don't forget how you've reached this point and how your success was just as earned as it was a result of the opportunities and help you were given.”

What advice would you give to a potential UW-Whitewater MAGD student?
“Try and learn as much as you possibly can within your field and beyond as you never know what can be applied towards future endeavors.”
