Whitewater, WI: The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater College of Business and Economics is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Paul Ambrose as its new dean.
The College of Business and Economics is ranked in the top 2% of the world’s business schools having earned both AACSB and AACSB Accounting Accreditation. The college has 30,000+ alumni and is highly regarded for the quality of both its in-person and online degree programs. It is home to Wisconsin’s number one-ranked, single-school, online Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and is the only college in the state to offer the prestigious AACSB-accredited Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) degree. The college is also ABET certified for quality and excellence by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission for its occupational and environmental safety and health program.
“Dr. Ambrose brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the position with ideas about how to meet the needs of a broader group of students,” said Robin Fox, interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. “He has already begun work on multiple articulation agreements with the technical colleges and has been a leader in discussions about retaining students from underrepresented groups. Under his leadership, I believe the college — Wisconsin’s largest accredited school of business — will not only continue its high-quality programs, but there will be an expansion in the students served in our region and online.”
Dr. Ambrose has been part of the UW-Whitewater community since 2005; serving in multiple roles, from faculty member to department chair to associate dean, and most recently as interim dean. He is a tenured professor and served as department chair for nearly four years. During his leadership, the college has had its highest graduate program enrollment and has expanded its online degree offerings.
Dr. Ambrose stated: “the College of Business and Economics takes AACSB’s charge of making Business Education accessible to a wide range of learners seriously. We will leverage our expertise and resources to build an inclusive population of learners who give back to their communities in multiple ways to build a better future for all.”
Ambrose earned a Ph.D. in business administration from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, an MBA in marketing and information systems from the Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirapalli, and a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology. Ambrose is also a co-founder of Ekantha Global, a U.S.-based social enterprise that seeks to equip and empower the underprivileged — both locally and globally.
Ambrose officially begins as dean on Jan. 20.
