ATTENTION: 

The Instructional, Communication and Information Technology (ICIT) Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an IT Business Analyst (IT Business Analyst II, IT071) with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Academic staff positions are provided fixed term appointments with annual renewals unless otherwise noted. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent on performance, University funding and external forces.

 

JOB DETAILS:

Under the supervision of the Director of Applications Development, this full-time position will interact with different campus departments in analyzing and modeling processes flow, generating business cases, gathering and documenting general requirements, creating gap analysis and contributing in many aspects of the software development lifecycle in complex environments. This position will also support business units that utilize third party applications. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science/MIS, or the equivalent of education and work
  • 2-3 years of business analysis experience with complex systems and projects
  • Previous customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

·    Knowledge of business processes and ERP systems in higher education

·    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

·    Knowledge of data analysis and query tools

·    General knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies

·    Ability to document, communicate, and implement innovative solutions to meet or exceed business goals

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

A.   75% Business analysis for a variety of enterprise and local systems

A1. Identify, create and facilitate process design changes by conducting business and systems process analysis and design at a complex level; focusing on quality improvement and data management; ensuring data is reliable and valid; developing process improvements or re-engineering and recommending elimination; integrating new systems and processes with existing ones; and partnering with internal and external customers to ensure systems provided meet the long-term business strategies.

A2. Provides alternative solutions and recommendations to complex business problems and issues; works with team members to determine the most advantageous approach.

A3. Provides advanced problem solving and technical support; works with staff to resolve complex technical problems.

A4. Participates in ERP software configuration efforts. Reviews changes delivered in upgrades and updates, makes adjustments as necessary.

A5. Collaborates in the development and documentation of new product releases.

A6. Stay current with customer needs and strategies; utilizing formal and informal written communication methods to communicate updates and findings; and facilitating project meetings and presentations to all types of diverse audiences.

A7. Collaborates closely with developers to implement the requirements and provide customer assistance and training during acceptance testing and implementation. Performs demonstrations of new and enhanced applications.

A8. Provides Business procedures advice and expertise regarding data and processes in the installed system.      

A9. Determines the feasibility of project requests and assesses their impact on the system.

A10. Adheres to and maintains change control processes.

A11. Develops user documentation.

A12. Manage customer relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on project results.

A13. Identify ways to increase adoption and customer satisfaction.

A 14. Understand and negotiate the needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders.

B.   20% Project management

B1. Supports and proposes technical, operating and organizational standards to contribute to the effectiveness of ICIT and the AIS department.

B2. Create and maintain issue logs, meeting minutes, meeting schedules, project summaries and updates.

B3. Create and maintain project schedules by developing project plans and specifications, estimating time and resources, monitoring milestone completion, tracking all phases of the project lifecycle, providing timely reporting of issues that impact project progress, coordinating actions and resolving conflicts.

C.   5% Participation in employee development activities, both assigned and self-initiated

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $65,000 – $75,000.
