INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Be a part of the Warhawk family.

At UW-Whitewater, we provide excellent learning opportunities. The university was founded in 1868 as a teacher’s college, and for decades we have had a reputation for having outstanding faculty who teach all of our classes. We are also known for student involvement in undergraduate research, on-campus employment opportunities and other hands-on learning experiences.

Our students enjoy small class sizes and professors who are passionate about what they teach and the students they serve. When they graduate, they leave our university mature and ready for their careers.

Our university values equity and inclusivity and appreciates the perspectives and vitality that international students bring to our classrooms and to our campus. We provide a number of resources for international students to enhance their Warhawk experience.

Whitewater is a wonderful place to live, learn, work, and play. Our campus is truly beautiful, with state-of-the-art buildings surrounded by spectacular landscaping.

We are located in a safe, friendly town near the Kettle Moraine State Forest, with beautiful natural resources and opportunities for outdoor exploration. What’s the weather like?

Warhawks enjoy four distinct seasons — fall, winter, spring and summer — with traditions and events taking place outside year-round. Plan to wear plenty of clothing layers throughout the year.

Enjoy a stroll through Wyman Mall or tailgate before the Warhawk football game as the trees show off their fall colors. Breathe in fresh, crisp winter air as the snow falls on your way to get a cup of coffee at the University Center. Take in a Warhawk baseball or softball game as the spring flowers bloom around campus. All are possible within an academic year at UW-Whitewater.

The Center for Global Education is here to assist you every step of the way. International students will have the opportunity to form relationships with American students and each other based on shared academic and recreational interests and mutual respect. Peer support is available specifically for international students:

  • The International Student Association is an all-inclusive student organization that promotes diversity and cross-cultural communication among domestic residents and international students at UW-Whitewater.
  • Global Ambassadors (GAs) are current domestic and international students who serve as mentors for new international and exchange students. GAs assist incoming international and exchange students during orientation and throughout the semester. They hold in-person events for students to meet each other and are a constant resource to answer any questions they have.
