Mobile Devices

With more than 1,000 access points on campus, you'll always be able to connect your mobile devices to UW-Whitewater WI-FI.  

UW-Whitewater is currently in the process of transitioning to a new wireless network access system to help improve overall efficiency and security. The project is being implemented in phases, based on device type and its operating system. Not all features of the new wireless access system may be available at this time. 

Simplified Guest Access

Campus guests are able to gain temporary access to campus Wi-Fi through a simple self-service process:

  1. While inside the University Center, connect to the network named "UWWGuest"
  2. Open the device's web browser and visit any webpage not affiliated with UW-Whitewater
  3. You will be redirected to a setup page, look for the "Don't have an account?" link
  4. Complete the registration process

Manage Your Devices Remotely

You can  manage your registered devices via Simply log in from any location using your Net-ID to report devices as lost and remove old devices.

Mobile Device Tips

  • Password protect your device
  • Read vendor privacy policies before downloading apps
  • Don't store sensitive data that isn't needed. This includes confidential data in your email account that auto-syncs with your phone
  • Do not auto-login or store passwords on your phone
  • Encrypt your device
  • Try mobile antivirus software or scanning tools
  • Use GPS tracking wisely
  • Be physically aware of your mobile device

When connecting to the campus network, though, please consider how your connection impacts other users. Downloading large files, connecting multiple devices, and using older devices impacts the speed for others.

In the event that you lose your mobile device, you can remotely block or delete the information from Outlook Web Access.
