"I'm struck by the courage I see our students exhibiting — not just those who identify as LGBTQ, but all students who have the courage to be who they are. Because by choosing authenticity they are helping to move us forward, and they do so with fierceness, love, joy and courage. I find their humanity and humility to be inspiring.
“My role starts with building relationships, listening to students, supporting students, amplifying their voices, and creating opportunities for students to share in leadership. When we come across issues, I operate with assumptions of good will — people want to do what's right.
“I believe in students. I believe they can do more or be more than we imagine is possible. It's UW-Whitewater’s responsibility to unlock unlimited possibilities for all students.”
Brent Bilodeau is interim vice chancellor for student affairs and is in his ninth year at UW-Whitewater. He is the winner of the 2018 P.B. Poorman Award for Outstanding Achievement on Behalf of LGBTQ+ People and will be recognized by UW System on Thursday, Nov. 8, in Madison.
