LGBTQ Warhawks Give

Here at UW-Whitewater, the opportunities designed for LGBTQ and ally Warhawks has transformed. Students can socialize in the PB Poorman Pride Center, join an LGBTQ learning community, take LGBTQ Studies classes, and are employed as LGBTQ student leaders. This vital form of support is a testimony to the generosity of our dedicated alumni and donors. You help make us the outstanding university we are today. 

Consider donating to the Pride Center General Fund, the Tom Affholder LGBT Leadership Award, or the Gender & LGBTQ Studies Scholarship to continue the legacy of LGBTQ Warhawks! 

1. PB Poorman Pride Center General Fund   Established in 2008, the Pride Center aims to offer an inclusive space for LGBTQ and ally students to relax, develop, and succeed. The Center employs student leaders to support the development of LGBTQ life and programming on campus, and to encourage mentorship. 
2. Tom Affholder LGBT Leadership Award   Gifts to this permanently endowed fund will be matched 1-1 up to $5,000 by Michael Mitchell, a 1970 UW-Whitewater graduate in Secondary Education. This scholarship was established in memory of his partner Tom Affholder. The award is made to a student who provides volunteer leadership to the LGBTQ campus community. 
3. Gender and LGBTQ Studies Scholarship   This joint scholarship across the Women's and Gender Studies Department and PB Poorman Pride Center honors a student who has demonstrated excellence and commitment to the academic fields of Women's and Gender and/or LGBTQ Studies. Recipients demonstrate excellence in one of three categories: academic distinction, significant advocacy, or personal resilience.
