The Arts at URock
Students on the Rock County campus have a variety of opportunities to participate in the arts — from our art classes and music ensembles to theatre productions and the Theodore Robinson Art Gallery in Wells Cultural Center.
URock also hosts free or low-cost cultural events that are open to the surrounding community. Find out more by visiting our calendar of events and selecting the Rock County campus.
The Theodore Robinson Art Gallery in Wells Cultural Center is the primary visual art exhibition for the art program and local, regional and national visiting artists. Check the events calendar for upcoming exhibits and hours, as they may vary.
Student works on exhibit come from UW-Whitewater at Rock County art courses, including Introduction to Drawing, Two-Dimensional Design, Introduction to Painting, Oil Painting, 3-Dimensional Design, Introduction to Photography and Digital Imaging and Design.
The art gallery also hosts the annual the URock LGBTQ+ Alliance Queer Art Exhibit. View the exhibit »

Director, French horn performer, producer and music professor Jeff Suarez offers a variety of ways for students, faculty and community members to engage in music experiences on the Rock County campus. The URock Chamber Orchestra has performed regularly since 2002, and the Kirk Denmark Theatre hosts the annual Holiday Concert, a community highlight for more than 50 years.
Suarez also conducts the URock Summer Band on the Rock County campus.
For more information about music ensembles, contact Jeff Suarez, associate professor, at suarezj@uww.edu or 608-898-5082.
The UW-Whitewater at Rock County Theatre Department is open to all students, staff, faculty and community members. Opportunities include performance, production, technical theatre, management, and other theatrical/media-related avenues.
Our goal is to increase awareness of the arts and create an avenue for expression both here on campus and in the community at large. We accomplish this goal through workshops, guest lectures, collaboration with local arts groups, and in-house performances. In more recent years, we have become more participant driven and will continue that in the foreseeable future. If you'd like to put on your own production, workshop, lecture, or other such opportunities, let us know and we will work with you!
The Kirk Denmark Theatre is now the home of Theatre Unlimited, a nonprofit organization that produces high-quality community musical theatre for the benefit of the southern Wisconsin area.
Our theatre arts-centric campus club, the Student Performing Arts Association, is an arm of our theatre department and allows students to organize and implement theatrical related opportunities on campus and beyond.
