Sustainability Office Collaborations
The Sustainability Office has collaborated with a wide array of academic departments to encourage the use of the campus as a “learning living laboratory”. Some of our academic offerings include, but are not limited to: 

• Guest lectures about campus sustainability
• Sustainability tours of campus grounds and buildings
• Privately scheduled volunteer opportunities for classes or groups
• Providing operational data from the university for special projects
• Consulting with students on individual or group projects
• Designing research projects that focus on key areas of our campus sustainability assessment program (stars.aashe.org)
• Service learning classes and research projects
• Collaborative field trips to environmentally-themed locations
• Discussion groups based on shared readings
• Hosting or facilitating cross-disciplinary networking and collaboration opportunities between faculty in different departments

In addition to these activities, the Sustainability Office also offers opportunities to collaborate with faculty and staff during our annual events including RecycleMania (Feb-Mar), Campus Sustainability Month (Oct), and Earth Week (Apr). Savanna Project Faculty Training Program
The Savanna Project is a training and discussion forum for expanding the role of sustainability in teaching and learning on the UW-Whitewater campus. The goal is for each participating faculty member to modify a syllabus of an existing course to incorporate a sustainability concept relevant to their discipline and class topic. Modifications could include (but certainly not limited to): incorporating new readings, adding case material, identifying guest lectures, or collaborating with other colleagues.  An overview presentation of our program is available here.

Sustainability Fellow
This faculty member position provides leadership for campus sustainability efforts, particularly in matters of curriculum, instruction, research, and community outreach. This role serves to promote integration of sustainability topics into a variety of academic disciplines. Some of the activities typical to this position include the advancement of sustainability education in general education curriculum, co-chair of the Sustainability Council, advocating for inclusion of sustainability in institutional initiatives and reforms, and establish and maintain contact with other faculty members about sustainability activities, and partner with other groups and offices to train faculty on sustainability topics and infusion in the curriculum.
