UHCS Services
UHCS provides comprehensive women’s primary health care services, as well as referrals for specialty services. Some examples of services offered at UHCS include:
- Annual well woman exams and Pap tests
- Pregnancy testing and comprehensive pregnancy options counseling and referrals
- Birth control and emergency contraception
- Testing /treatment for vaginal infections, including STIs
- Menstrual cramps or menstrual disorder evaluation/treatment
Since Pap guidelines changed, many women question if they should still come in every year for an annual well woman exam. The answer is YES! The Pap smear is just one of many important components of promoting health throughout your lifespan. Annual women’s wellness exams usually include a review of medications, including birth control options, verification that you’re up to date on immunizations, a discussion about nutrition and family history, and a physical exam. Lab tests and medication refills are also commonly included, as indicated. If you are a person of reproductive age, you may qualify for the Family Planning Only Services program in Wisconsin to cover any costs.
