Campus Safety Committee
Function
The Campus Safety Committee aims to create and maintain an active interest in safety through a broad scope of programs that encourage the participation of all personnel in initiating, maintaining, and improving safe practices or conditions for the UW-W campuses.
Activities
The functions of the committee are defined to include but are not limited to:
- Identifying unsafe practices and conditions and suggesting appropriate remedies.
- Conducting self-audits of both operations and facilities.
- Identifying safety discrepancies and recommending corrective measures.
- Reviewing incident reports. Types, severity, causes, and trends potentially identified, and appropriate corrective action(s) developed.
- Assisting in developing and implementing an effective safety training program.
- Assisting in developing safety policies and recommending adoption by the administration.
- Encouraging employee and student feedback concerning safety-related ideas, problems, and solutions.
- The committee advises on campus safety issues and recommends resolutions.
- Support and serve as a resource in developing and maintaining a comprehensive safety and loss control program.
- Establishing safety teams, ad-hoc and permanent, to address campus risk management, safety, loss control, and environmental issues by assisting the Director of Risk Management and Safety in carrying out Executive Order 194 (July 1993) and other regulatory mandates.
Membership
The Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs or designee approves and appoints membership upon recommendation of the Chief of Police.

Natural or Physical Science

University Staff Council
Academic Staff Assembly
Members, except the student representative, are expected to serve a minimum of 3 years.
Meetings
A full Campus Safety Committee will be held at least twice per semester during the academic year (four times yearly). One Safety Committee meeting will be dedicated to educating and training members on their duties and expectations.
Officers
The Chair of the Safety Committee will be the Director of Risk Management or their designee.
