Degree Requirements
Bachelor of Arts (BA) vs. Bachelor of Science (BS)
B.A. Requirements
- Two units of Art (GA) outside major department
(Not including CORE 110 World of the Arts)
-AND- - Six units of Humanities (GH) from two separate disciplines
(Not including course used to fulfill CORE 120 Historical Perspectives/CORE 140 Global Perspectives requirement nor CORE 390 World of Ideas)
B.S. Requirements
- Six units of Natural Sciences/Mathematics (GL, GN, GQ)
(Not including courses used to fulfill Quantitative and Technical Reasoning requirement) - *Transfer students may require more than the minimum 6 additional credits of GL/GN/GQ if Quantitative and Technical Reasoning requirements were satisfied with transfer courses applied under the 2/3-credit rule

B.A. Requirements
- Six units of 300/400 level work
Select from Arts, Communications, Humanities, Social Science, Ethnic/Women/Interdisciplinary studies excluding courses in major or minor disciplines.
300/400 level courses must be personalized on the AAR. Refer to the College of Letters & Sciences website for B.A. Requirements form.
-AND- - Complete 2 semesters of the same world language at the college level
-OR- - Demonstration of the equivalent proficiency by appropriate score on a placement examination
-OR- - Students who graduated from high school before 2012 may waive the requirement with 2 high school years of the same foreign language. High school foreign language course completion must be personalized on the AAR. Refer to the College of Letters & Sciences website for B.A. Requirements form.
B.S. Requirements
- A second 4-5 unit lab science course (designated GL)
(Not including lab science course used to fulfill University Requirement. This lab science must also be from a different discipline than the lab science used for the University Requirement)
-AND- - Select one of the following:
1. MATH 250 OR MATH 253
2. At least 6 units from two math courses beyond MATH 142
3. At least 6 units chosen from two of the three options below:- At least 3 units of math beyond MATH 142 (excluding MATH 230)
- 3-4 units of Statistics chosen from MATH 230 or STAT 230, PSYCH 215, SOCIOLGY 295, BIOLOGY 303, ECON 245 OR SOCWORK 250
- At least 3 units of computer science
