Visitors parking at UW-Whitewater

Visitor Parking

General Information

UW-Whitewater has moved to LPR (License Plate Recognition) which means you will no longer receive or print out a parking permit to be displayed on your dash because your license plate will be your permit.   Therefore, it is the permit holder's responsibility to ensure the correct vehicle information is being entered at the time the permit is being purchased to avoid unwanted tickets.

Parking permits are required at all times except for University recognized holidays and on weekends (starting at 5PM on Friday and extending through 11PM on Sunday). Daily visitor permits are available to purchase online from our Parking Portal or in the Parking Services office during business hours. Permits purchased online or from the Parking Services office will not include overnight parking.

Temporary Permit Types

Hourly, daily, and overnight permits are available for purchase at all times from the kiosk in the Visitor Center drive-thru. You will need your license plate and a credit or debit card to use the kiosk; American Express is not accepted. All permits from the kiosk start at the time of purchase, and are limited to the lots designated on the signs next to the machine. Usually, this means kiosk permit holders can park in Lots 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 18, 19, 21, and 24 along with Prince and Prairie street during the day. Vehicles utilizing kiosk permits for overnight parking (between 2AM-5AM) must be parked in Lot 19. Any notices left on the signs next to the kiosk override this information. Failure to park in designated lots will result in Improper Lot citations.

Rates for the parking kiosk:

1 hour: $1.65

2 hours: $3.05

3 hours: $4.45

Day pass: $5 for 24 hours

Multiple day (overnight) pass: $5 per 24 hours

Visitor permits are not valid in resident lots, or in reserved, restricted, or metered (AMP) stalls (see parking map). Violators will be subject to tickets.

The Parking Services office is located in the Visitor Center building at 826 W. Starin Road. Business office hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Contact us at (262) 472-1011 or e-mail us at parking@uww.edu

AMP Pay-By-Space Parking

Pay-by-space fees are required at all times except for University-recognized holidays and on weekends (starting at 5PM on Friday and extending through 11PM on Sunday).

The following lots have short-term parking available through the AMP Parking App:

Lots:  1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 12A, 14, 23, Hyer, Koshkonong Drive, and Lauderdale Drive.

Maximum time limits of 2 hours are enforced for each area individually except for Lots 11 and 23 which have a 4-hour maximum time limit. You must be parked in a stall labeled with an AMP sign for your payment through the app to be considered valid.

Once you reach the maximum time limit in a particular zone, you will no longer have the ability to extend your time or start a new session in that area until the 24-hour lockout period concludes.  These zones are meant for short-term parking and are not to be utilized for all-day accommodations. Remaining parked in a pay-by-space stall beyond the expiration of a session or without paying at all will result in a citation. You can be cited every two hours in these stalls.

Permits are not required when parked at the pay-by-space stalls; however, a permit does not cancel the requirement to pay the fees of the pay-by-space stalls.

Download the AIMS Mobile Pay (AMP) app here: Apple or Google Play.

Event Parking

Attending an event on campus? Head over to our Parking Portal to register your vehicle to a parking permit. Weekend events, camps, or large conferences usually have special permits available under the “Purchase UW-W Special Event Permits” section. Alternatively, if you were instructed to purchase a day pass, the “Purchase a Permit” section will allow you to do so.

No login is necessary for event or visitor permits. For this reason, if you bring a different car than was registered, you’ll need to contact our office to update the vehicle information. UW-Whitewater has moved to LPR (License Plate Recognition) which means you will no longer receive or print out a parking permit to be displayed on your dash because your license plate will be your permit.   Therefore, it is the permit holder's responsibility to ensure the correct vehicle information is being entered or updated to avoid unwanted tickets.

Coordinating an event on campus? Please fill out this form and we will reach out to you to organize parking accommodations. We ask that all event parking requests are submitted at least ten business days prior to the event starting in order to give us time to provide the best possible parking solution.
