The Enduring Fortitude of Disability Advocacy: Standing the Test of Time
October 20, 2025
Courtney Wilt, Assistant Professor, Special Education
Bella Zeit, Odin Ehrets, and Breanne Lessard, Student Researchers
Disability is and has always been a natural part of the human experience. Our bodies—our lives—exist in a delicate, complex, and continuous relationality to the environments, cultures, and political landscapes surrounding us. This talk features student researchers Bella Zeit, Odin Ehrets, and Breanne Lessard from the Disability Justice Collective, a participatory action research team comprised of students with disabilities at UWW, and faculty mentor Assistant Professor Courtney Wilt. Students will share their insights and experiences with disability/ies in college and beyond, illuminating both UWW’s commitment to disability inclusion and the pitfalls of institutional ableism that affect us all.
Lectures will be held on Mondays at 3 p.m. in the Olm Fellowship Hall of Fairhaven Senior Services, 435 West Starin Road, Whitewater. They are open to the public and registration is not required. Lectures may be recorded and posted to our Fairhaven Lecture website and YouTube channel. Videos of lectures in this series and in past series can be accessed for free any time after they are posted online.
