From Quakers to Warhawks: The History of Intercollegiate Athletics at UW-Whitewater

This presentation traces the evolution of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, beginning with the institution’s early identity as the Quakers and progressing to its modern era as the Warhawks. It highlights significant milestones, achievements, and turning points that shaped Warhawk athletics, including the development of major sports programs, championship traditions, influential coaches and athletes, facility growth, and the university’s rise to national prominence. The presentation emphasizes how athletics has become a defining element of UW-Whitewater’s culture, pride, and community engagement over time.


Lectures will be held on Mondays at 3 p.m. in the Olm Fellowship Hall of Fairhaven Senior Services, 435 West Starin Road, Whitewater. They are open to the public and registration is not required. Lectures may be recorded and posted to our Fairhaven Lecture website and YouTube channel. Videos of lectures in this series and in past series can be accessed for free any time after they are posted online.
