UNDECLARED MAJOR

Many UW-Whitewater students are undecided on what they want to study when they arrive on campus. Some discover that the courses within their intended major were not what they expected, while others may find themselves more drawn to an entirely different area of study. As an undeclared major, you have plenty of options, and we’re here to help you choose your path. Some of our highest achieving students start off as undeclared majors before finding their fit within one of our four colleges.

What does it mean to be undeclared?

Being an undeclared major at UW-Whitewater means you have yet to declare a major. Many students start out undeclared, take required university courses as they find their passion, and ultimately choose a major that best fits their interests, and life and career goals.

What you can do as an undeclared major:

  • Talk with an academic advisor
  • Enroll in general education courses that allow you to explore different subjects
  • Use assessment and survey resources to narrow your choices
  • Network, job shadow, or participate in an exploration workshop
