WEATHER

Warhawks enjoy four distinct seasons — autumn, winter, spring and summer — with traditions and events taking place outside year-round as we live, learn, work and play at UW-Whitewater.

Weather and climatology are deeply rooted in our academic expertise, and our Department of Geography, Geology, and Environmental Science operates a weather station located just east of Perkins Stadium.

ABOUT THE WEATHER STATION

History of the weather station

Established in 1997, the station has been upgraded through the years. It currently tracks barometric pressure, temperature, dew point temperature, wind speed and direction, precipitation, solar radiation, heat index, wind chill, and more.

Learning and research

Data collected from the weather station is used in various geography, geology, and environmental science classes. Students and faculty can research and analyze changing weather patterns and conditions, as well as calculate long-term climate patterns.
