Deborah Wilk (Ph.D. 2005, University of Kansas) is an Associate Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History. She is currently working on a book project examining gender and the representation of immigration in art and architecture in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries entitled Delivering Citizenship: Picturing Immigration at Castle Garden and Ellis Island. Another article in progress considers the DREAM Act and performing motherhood at the US/Mexico border. Publications include “Of Milk and Homeland: Breastfeeding, Immigrant Mothers, and Eugenics in the Nineteenth and Twenty-First Centuries” (Ashgate), and “9 Guitars” in ModernStarts (MoMA).
