Dates of Importance

• Available online at federal student aid.

• The Parent PLUS loan must be applied for each year. The application is available online at Federal Student Aid.  For step-by-step directions on how to apply, please visit our Parent PLUS loan web page.

Recommended date all loan processing is complete to ensure funds arrive before the term due date

• If accepting a Federal Direct Loan, ensure the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note are completed by this date.
• If applying for a Parent PLUS Loan, a Graduate PLUS Loan, or a Private/Alternative Loan, we recommend your application be submitted by this date.

• Billing statements are emailed to student’s UW-W email address. This statement will only include charges posted to date and is dependent upon the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents finalizing tuition rates.
• This invoice will not include financial aid, but you can view your financial aid in WINS.
• You can estimate your charges at any time using the UWW cost tool.

• This process occurs overnight so you will see your financial aid credit toward your UW-W charges in WINS the next morning.
• Only accepted and fully processed financial aid will credit your WINS account.
• In order for financial aid to pay the charges on your WINS student account, you must be registered for the same number of credits for which you were awarded aid.
• From this date forward, financial aid will credit your WINS account every Monday and Wednesday evening.

• If you would like the Financial Aid Office and/or the Student Accounts Office to discuss your financial aid/student account information with anyone but you, the student, you need to complete the Release of Financial Information form. This is available in both the Financial Aid and Student Account tile in WINS.

• If receiving more financial aid than charges for fall, and if you signed up for E-refunds, the UW-W Cashier’s Office initiates refunds on this day.
• It may take 3-5 additional days for your bank to make those funds available to you. 
• If you are not signed up for E-refunds, the UW-W Cashier’s Office will begin mailing refund checks on this day.

• Your enrollment will be locked this evening and your financial aid will be revised based on your enrollment at that time.
• If you are enrolled for fewer credits on September 16, 2026 than when your aid was initially disbursed, you may end up owing some or all of your financial aid back to UW-Whitewater.
• Because financial aid cannot be adjusted for any credits added after this date, be sure to register for all courses prior to this date, even courses that start in the second half-term session.

Financial Aid Winterim application becomes available

• Available online.

Accepted and fully processed spring financial aid begins paying eligible charges on your UW-W WINS student account

• This process occurs overnight so you will see your financial aid credit toward your UW-W charges in WINS the next morning.
  Only accepted and fully processed financial aid will credit your WINS account.
• In order for financial aid to pay the charges on your WINS student account, you must be registered for the same number of credits for which you were awarded aid.
• From this date forward, financial aid will credit your WINS account every Monday and Wednesday evening.

Accepted and fully processed summer financial aid begins paying eligible charges on your UW-W WINS student account

• This process occurs overnight so you will see your financial aid credit toward your UW-W charges in WINS the next morning.
• Only accepted and fully processed financial aid will credit your WINS account.
• In order for financial aid to pay the charges on your WINS student account, you must be registered for the same number of credits for which you were awarded aid.
• If not enrolled in Session 1, aid will not disburse until the first session of your first class

Summer term begins;

Summer refunds are initiated

• If receiving more financial aid than charges, and if you signed up for E-refunds, the UW-W Cashier’s Office initiates refunds on this day.
• It may take 3-5 additional days for your bank to make those funds available to you. 
• If you are not signed up for E-refunds, the UW-W Cashier’s Office will begin mailing refund checks on this day.

• Tuition is due for all session currently registered for.
