How to give to the UW-Whitewater foundation

Endowments

Endowed funds strengthen the university by providing lasting support for current and future needs as funds grow over time. Endowments are a cornerstone of any great university and extend the impact of a donor’s generosity well beyond their lifetime.

The principal gift is invested and a portion of the fund’s value, currently 4% based on the fund’s 12 quarter average balance, is made available each year to support the purpose the donor has identified. An administrative fee of 1.95% is charged to support the administration of the fund. To protect the fund from erosion due to inflation, the remaining portion of investment return is added to the principal.

The minimum investment to establish an endowment is $25,000, which can be established in installments over a period of up to five years. Spending from the fund will not be allowed until a fund has met this minimum.

UW-Whitewater benefits from a number of existing endowed funds to support the mission of the university, including endowed scholarships, professorships and strategic priority funds to support current and future programs. Donors are welcome to support existing endowments with gifts of all sizes.

If you would like to establish a new endowed fund, UW-Whitewater Foundation offers fund templates for scholarships, professorships, fellowships and other fund agreements to facilitate the process. A Director of Philanthropy is happy to help you establish a fund that is meaningful to you and supports the long-term health of the institution.
