Warhawks SOAR
Once admitted to UW-Whitewater, one of your next steps is to participate in a Warhawks SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, & Registration) program. During Warhawks SOAR you will:

Register for classes
Warhawks SOAR is required for all new students to enroll in classes. To complete UWW's SOAR Registration, you will need to pay your $100 enrollment deposit prior to your SOAR date.
SOAR Registration
SOAR registration for students beginning courses in Summer 2026 or Fall 2026 opens February 1st.
SOAR registration for students beginning courses in Winter 2026 or Spring 2027 opens March 1st.
Students may sign up for SOAR through their WINS account!
Registration closes four business days before the program due date to allow enough time to process the student's account.
To register:
- Log in to your WINS account
- Click on the Warhawks SOAR tile under "Student Home."
- Complete the registration process (See this guide for instructions). Your registration is not complete until fees have been paid.
UW-Whitewater email address: Your UW-Whitewater email address is your formal communication with the university. All bills, notifications, confirmations and emergency updates will be sent via email, so be sure to check your UWW email often! Access your email by visiting uww.edu and clicking "Email" at the top of the screen.

SOAR Tasks to Complete
Connecting to WiFi
Students should use “Eduroam” for best connection. You will need to know your UWW email (your NetID followed by @uww.edu) and your updated password. If you have never used your NetID login, you must create a new password. Guests will be able to use UWW’s Guest WiFi network.
Enroll in Multi-factor authentication (MFA) with Duo
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provdes added protection for your account. Follow the steps at Getting Started with MFA with Duo. Students not already enrolled in MFA with Duo may be prompted to self-enroll when logging into any UWW Net-ID-protected system. Need help? Email helpdesk@uww.edu.
Pre-Enrollment Checklist (Terms and Conditions)
These terms must be agreed to, otherwise you will not be able to register for courses. Follow these steps to complete the agreement. Still need help with the pre-enrollment checklist? Email the Registar's Office at registrar@uww.edu.
Need to change your major, minor, or degree track?
Incoming, admitted students may change their major before participating in Warhawks SOAR. Complete this online form prior to two business days of your SOAR date. If it is within two days of your SOAR date, please wait and update your information during SOAR Check-In. If you need to change your major after your Warhawks SOAR date, please contact your academic advisor. Only students themselves (not parents, guardians, etc.) may submit major change requests.
Parking
Free parking is available during SOAR in Lot 14 or Lot 4, located near Upham Hall. Follow the "Warhawks SOAR" signs on campus to guide you. If using GPS, select Upham Hall (771 W. Starin Rd., Whitewater, WI, 53190).
Check-in
The multi-step check-in process for Warhawks SOAR is between 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the University Center (UC). Once you have parked, follow the "Warhawks SOAR" signs to the UC. The first session begins at 9:00 a.m. and check-in is required, so please be sure to allow enough time.
SOAR Schedule
The SOAR program begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.. Check-in will begin at 8:15 a.m.. Much of the day will be experienced in two distinct schedules where students are separated from guests beginning mid-day. You will have the opportunity to experience the Campus Resource Fair at the end of the day together, where you'll be able to talk with campus departments on an individual basis. The program will conclude around 4:00pm. Attendance at the entire program is required in order to register for classes.
Please note lunch is provided. Guests and students will have separate lunch periods as students will dine with their Hawk Squad groups.
Know your WINS log-in and password
You’ll be logging into your account to enroll in classes at SOAR. If your password does not work, you may try to reset your password prior to your SOAR day.
Canvas Courses to Complete

- Sexual Assault and Violence Prevention Training - Students will be enrolled in the course on Canvas within a couple weeks of the start of the semester.
- Commitment to Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression - Students will be enrolled in the course on Canvas within a couple weeks of the start of the semester.
- Recognize, Respond, Refer (RRR) Suicide Prevention Training - Students will need to self-enroll into this course on Canvas in order to complete the training.
Financial Aid and Financial Services
Complete the FAFSA. Be sure UW-Whitewater’s school code is added to your FAFSA: 003926
View and accept your financial aid within WINS.
Complete the loan requirements.

- Complete the master promissory note
Estimate costs and research additional financing options.

- Use cost.uww.eduto estimate your costs.
- Explore the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan or private/alternative loans
Mail scholarship checks to the Cashier’s Office.
Complete a Release of Information for Student Financial Services and Financial Aid. This allows specified individuals access to speak with campus staff about your financial records. Log into WINS, Student Financial Account, Account Inquiry, Release Financial Info.
- Add someone as an Authorized User to the e-bill website: log into NelNet and click on Authorized Users.

- Navigate - Schedule appointments with academic and career advisors, check to-do list items, and view campus resources
- Connect2 - Discover clubs, student organizations, campus events, and volunteer opportunities
- Outlook - Access your UW-Whitewater email account and calendar with ease
Submit a photo for your HawkCard. If you did not receive your HawkCard at SOAR, you may pick it up at the HawkCard Office during business hours.
Submit health history medical forms to UHCS. Log into UHCS, select “Medical Forms” on the left column, complete the first two forms, fill out your health history, click on “Forms” and complete the immunization form.
Students living in the residence halls:

- Complete the housing application (includes meal plan selection and parking permit requests) through the MyHousing Portal
- Fall students - Sign up for Drop N Go through housing’s Student Portal
- Fall students - Pick up your textbooks during Drop N Go or during regular business hours by visiting Textbook Services
- Spring students - Order your textbooks through your WINS account and pick them up from Textbook Services
Students living off campus:

- Complete a Parking Permit Application beginning Aug. 1
- Order textbooks through your WINS account and pick them up from Textbook Services
- Enroll in a Warhawk Dining Meal Plan
