This is a community for students interested in science careers in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.

Whether you like the scientific study of living things, the properties and behavior of matter or a combination of these, Double Helix can connect you with other young scientists wanting to study these same passions.

Thinking about majoring in Psychology? Want to learn more about why people do what they do? If you are interested in the field of psychology, you can learn, study, live, and have fun with other first year students as you explore answers to these and other questions. Through this Learning Community, you will have opportunities to connect with other students in psychology and build relationships with faculty members across campus. Learn more about what you can do with a degree in psychology and how best to prepare yourself for future career goals.

  • You can live with anyone who has a housing assignment in Tutt Halls (including students in other learning communities housed in Tutt).

Learning Community Coordinator

This learning community is designed for first-year students interested in exploring law and criminal justice as potential majors and careers.

The common theme that will be woven through each of the classes is the role of law and the legal system in society. Guest speakers working in related fields will be invited to interact with members of the learning community, and field trips are planned. The UW-Whitewater Pre-Law advisor is one of the faculty members teaching in this learning community. The learning community is available to anyone considering a career in law or criminal justice, including students in Legal Studies, Pre-Law, Sociology/Criminal Justice, and Business Law. You do not have to declare one of the majors listed above to participate.

Learning Community Coordinator

This is a community for students interested in exploring computer science as a major.

"Thinking in Code" will allow first year student to connect with other students who are passionate about Computer Science. Students will have opportunities to get involved in community-wide activities that will provide life-long learning skills and ease the transition from high school to college. Students in this LC will explore the history and advances in using computer technology for transforming human’s intelligence into the physical world, and have the opportunities to visit local companies to learn about these transformations. Your academic advisor will also help you connect with your department to learn about the rich and varied opportunities that are available, including research and internships.

Who can I live with if I join this Learning Community?

  • You can live with anyone who is in Tutt Hall (including other students in LCs housed in Tutt Hall)

Available For

  • Students majoring in Computer Science, and undeclared students with an interest in Computer Science
