Graduate Students Bring Home the Gold

On February 1 and 2, the Wisconsin Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Association (WSHA) held their Annual Professional Convention. Students and faculty in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Communication Sciences and Disorders Department(COMDIS) presented research, engaged with practitioners, and were recognized for their achievements.
First year graduate students Kelli Kjornes, Isabella Barrett, Grace Klimek, and Alexis White, won the Knowledge Bowl, a competition testing their knowledge and preparation for the field’s licensing exam. The UWW team competed against teams from graduate programs from across the state.
“This award is testament not only to the quality of students enrolled in our program,” says Beth Miller Swanson, Clinical Assistant Professor and WSHA executive board member, “but also to the excellence of the coursework and clinical opportunities they experience at UWW.”
The COMDIS program is comprised of a dedicated network of faculty, clinical instructors, and alumni. It prepares speech-language pathologists to practice across the lifespan and in all settings, particularly in Wisconsin.
