Eligibility
There are a number of ways to enter the University Honors Program:
Incoming first-year students with unweighted high school GPAs of 3.7 or higher are eligible and may apply to the University Honors Program.
To remain in good standing in the UHP, all members must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4.
Complete an application for admittance if you are a current UW-W student who:
- Has completed at least 12 credits
- Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4.

Are you a transfer student looking to join the University Honors Program (UHP)? Here’s what you need to know:
- Application Process: Complete an application for admission to the UHP to get started on your Honors journey.
- Claiming Previous Honors Credits: If you’ve earned Honors credits at your previous institution, be sure to review the residency requirement:
- 12+ Honors Credits: Transfer students with 12 or more Honors credits from another institution must complete at least 9 Honors credits at UW-Whitewater to meet the residency requirement.
- Fewer than 12 Honors Credits: If you’re transferring with fewer than 12 Honors credits, you must complete enough Honors coursework at UW-W to reach the program’s 21-credit requirement.
- Staying in Good Standing: All UHP members must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4 to remain active in the program and on track for graduation with University Honors.
Students working on their Associate's Degree through the College of Integrated Studies (UW-Whitewater at Rock County) are eligible for the College of Integrated Studies Honors Program. If students decide to continue their educational journey on the main UW-Whitewater Campus, they may apply using the continuing student application.
