Surveys are often used by various members of a university community to gather data on college campuses. This information is intended to help members of the UW-Whitewater community deploy surveys efficiently, effectively and within the ethical guidelines established by the University.

Getting started with Surveys (Qualtrics)

All UW-W students, faculty and staff have access to Qualtrics, a powerful online survey tool, to which UW-W has a university-wide subscription.

New Users: If you have not used Qualtrics as a member of the UW-W community before, please log in through the link below in order to establish a UW-W linked Qualtrics account:

This log-in method will require you to enter the Net-ID Login credentials that you use to access systems on campus. UW-W linked Qualtrics accounts can be used for University related activities. Users must agree to the Acceptable Use Policy to use an account. Please note that only those using a UW-W linked Qualtrics accounts can collaborate with other campus users.

  • Contact the IT Services Help Desk for technical support for Qualtrics, such as transferring ownership of a survey to another person. 
  • Visit Qualtrics Support website for support documentation and training.
  • Qualtrics Support Representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To submit a Support Ticket, please follow the steps pictured below. First select "Sign in with SSO" and then enter uwwhitewater as the organization ID.

IRP staff are available on a first-come, first-served basis to UW-Whitewater faculty & staff who have survey design and administration questions. Please contact us at irp@uww.edu to set up an appointment to discuss your project.

All campus affiliated research that involves human subjects will require review by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Institutional Review Board (IRB) to determine if you have employed adequate measures to protect the participants involved in your study. Please note this includes social science research as well as dissertation-level research involving human subjects. We strongly encourage you to contact the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs before you begin any research project involving survey research.
