Departmental Costs
Campus entities that utilize UWW Cable Service for video programming pay on a per tap basis. That means each cable jack that is used is billed for.
For the 2019-2020 fiscal year, the cost was $264.
For the 2020-2024 fiscal years, the cost was $0 annually if you used our coax cable system.
Starting Spring 2024, we will likely have our full lineup back on Coax. At that point departments with cable TV connections will be asked to pay $264/per connection annually to support distribution and licensing.
The existing cable system system will continue with a limited lineup of ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX/PBS/CW, subchannels of those major networks, Cheddar Media(111.1), UWWTV(100.1), UWWTVCS(101.1) and University Housing digital sign channels until Spring 2024. Your fees are used to maintain the cable infrastructure across campus and pay video subscription fees.
Additional costs are absorbed by University Housing. Your departmental subscription to service does not entitle you to our help in maintaining your televisions. That is the responsibility of each individual department. If we are asked to respond to an issue, and the problem originates with your device, you may incur additional charge backs.
Cable is not considered a mission-critical service and will be serviced on a staff availability basis. Campus departments are not required to use services provided by University Housing Technology for video programming.
